Checking In: Palazzo Avino in Ravello, Italy

Palazzo Avino may just be one of my favorite places on earth. I had the opportunity to experience this slice of heaven this past April when I was traveling in Italy. I had just attended DUCO, an invitation-only boutique travel conference that is solely dedicated to Italian travel. After meeting with over 100 Italian hoteliers and tour operators, I wanted to see some of the hotels I sell to my clients so I could advise them from personal experience. Palazzo Avino was a must on my hotel list to see!

Palazzo Avino is lovingly referred to as the Pink Palace of the Amalfi Coast. The Pink Palace is located in a medieval hilltop town called Ravello. While not as well known as Positano, I truly believe that a trip to the Amalfi Coast is not complete without a stay in Ravello. Ravello is located about 15-20 minutes up a very windy road on the top of the hills. Although it is not a coastal property, you can see from the photos that you have amazing sea views! If you really want to be along the coast, I wouldn’t recommend skipping Ravello - instead, I would recommend combining Ravello with another coastal stay. Ravello is a quaint, quiet towns so it mixes perfectly with more buzzing, trendy destinations like Positano or Capri.

Fear not - if you don’t have time to combine with a coastal property, Palazzo Avino does have a private be a private beach club for their guests only. It is definitely worth spending a day at their beach club!

Palazzo Avino is a family run property and you will meet family members during your stay, which makes it so special and personal. They put so much love and passion into the property from the wonderful spa, the Lobster and Martini bar that features over 100 different martinis and the wine cellar (ask me about a private dinner here!). I love every corner of the hotel.

I stayed in a gorgeous suite with a seaview. I love the traditional style of the hotel but it feels young and lively - not stuffy and formal like a traditional feel can sometimes lend itself to feeling.

The grounds of the hotel are stunningly landscaped with amazing flowers and tons of reclining chairs so you can find your perfect loungers for an Aperol Spritz and a good summer book.
