My South Africa Trip Recap

I traveled to South Africa this past March 2021 on an educational trip with one of our preferred partners and a small group of travel advisors based around the US. Pre-COVID, South Africa was a top 3 destination for Sea to City clients and we know with time that it will be again! South Africa is a fabulous country - in such a small space, you are able to have a plethora of experiences. There’s something for everyone!

My Rwanda Recap 2: Nyungwe National Forest + Final Day in Kigali

One of my absolute favorite aspects of my career is introducing my clients to hidden gems and under the radar corners of the world. I can’t remember when I first discovered Nyungwe National Forest and the One&Only located there but regardless, this hotel has been on my top hotel wishlist ever since. Since I have been so obsessed with this property for years, I was honestly nervous that it would not live up to expectations, however, the second I arrived I could tell it would exceed expectations.

My Rwanda Recap #1: Pre-departure, Kigali and Volcanoes National Park

At the end of last summer, Rwanda reopened their borders to leisure travel, including to Americans. A colleague, Kelly of Well Traveled Living, and I were daydreaming about returning to Africa and experiential, meaningful traveling. It seemed so much of what was “open” to us at the time were beach destinations. And while I love the Caribbean as much as the next girl, I was yearning to fuel my curiosity and truly get to know the history and culture of a new country. We threw out the idea of Rwanda trip, thought “if only,” and went on with our days.

Cleanliness Updates From Travel Partners

We’ve been spending some quality time connecting with our industry partners over the past few weeks, and as you might imagine, one of the most common topics of late is health and safety. Many brands have been refining and sharing their cleaning procedures - some of which are just bringing to the forefront methods that have always existed, but there are equally critical enhancements that most of the brands have shared. There’s a lot of information out there so to keep this digestible, you’ll find one specific fact from some of the major airline, hotel, and car rental + ride sharing companies. For a full list of what that company is doing, click on their name below for further details.

Postpone, Don’t Cancel, To Support Small Business

Even a week ago, conversations with my clients were about whether traveling was the right choice for them. Now there is no choice. Flights are cancelling. Hotels are shutting down. Borders are closing and we’re all social distancing. While taking in all these restrictions, it’s easy to see that large companies like airlines are heavily affected. There’s even talk off the government providing bailouts for these large corporations. But I want to turn your focus to the thousands of small businesses and individuals that aren’t being talked about in the media who are just as effected by these restrictions. It’s these individuals who bring trips to life.

Hello 2020 from Sea to City Travels

I received our first Sea to City client request as I was unloading my storage unit. We took that as a good sign and 6 months later the rest is history!

Checking In: Mandarin Oriental Munich

Munich is certainly a “must see” city in Germany - it has an amazing biergarten culture, fabulous shopping, a park larger than Central Park in New York City, the BMW museum and more. I spent a quick 2 nights here at the beginning of the month before returning home. At the end of my trip, I wanted a hotel with a central location, which is why I chose to stay at The Mandarin Oriental Munich.

Checking In: Palazzo Avino in Ravello, Italy

Palazzo Avino may just be one of my favorite places on earth. I had the opportunity to experience this slice of heaven this past April when I was traveling in Italy. I had just attended DUCO, an invitation-only boutique travel conference that is solely dedicated to Italian travel. After meeting with over 100 Italian hoteliers and tour operators, I wanted to see some of the hotels I sell to my clients so I could advise them from personal experience. Palazzo Avino was a must on my hotel list to see!

Romantic Retreat At Alila Villas Uluwatu

The last stop on my work trip to Bali last December, Uluwatu, was new to me. I'd been in the area before for the famous kecak dance at the Uluwatu Temple - a must for any first time visitor to Bali that are interested in learning about Balinese culture - and spent an afternoon on one of the little beaches there. However, I had never stayed in Uluwatu before. Although I stayed with a group of travel advisors for work, I couldn't help but imagine staying for a romantic retreat at Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali.
